"I have wonderful childhood memories of spending hours in your library when we visited my grandmother's and Uncle Baddy's farm at the end of Beede Road. When they died my family sold the property to the Runyon family, who have been wonderful in maintaining the farm's character." Linda Beahan Buckley
"We look forward to making good use of the new library conference room. This accessible, flexible space with the technology to conduct audio and video conferencing and a large screen for previewing prospective guest artists will benefit our mission to boost arts in the community.” East Branch Friends of the Arts
“In the renovated library, I look forward to an Archives with more stabilized working conditions. I have supported the Archives through the years, recognizing it as an important and valuable repository for Keene Valley history, including the Ausable Club." Annette Merle-Smith
“Whenever I drive through the Valley, I always turn my head to see fi the little sign saying “open” is hanging out in front of the library. It is part of what makes Keene home for me. Whether it is Karen offering me coffee and a seat at her table for a few words, or finding the grandchildren in the back room doing puzzles or tearing through a well-worn book or taking a fresh look at the wonderful art above the shelves in the reading room. With all its books and magazines and newspapers telling of different peoples and communities I am reminded that the world is awfully big out there. And then I choose to sit down with my smallness in a corner, comfortable, safe and relaxed, filled with gratitude for this inviting and wonderful place.” Sam Fisk
“Dear members of the Keene Valley Library Association Board, Last week, my six-year-old grandson was in Keene for the February break. He was thrilled to attend two of the special children’s events organized by Karen Glass and Molly Jacobson. My grandson enjoyed playing Minecraft, building with Legos, eating pizza, watching Star Wars, and making new friends. Since I went with him, I can report the events were fun, age appropriate, and well organized. Thank you for supporting events that encourage children’s use of the library. I was amazed at the number of children and parents attending each event. The Children’s programming offered during the school breaks is a rich gift to the community. Please keep them coming." Mary Michelfelder
“When you put that ‘Smart Room’ in the library, you’ll wonder how you ever did without it”. Amy Storrow
"As a new father who had decided to stay home with my son, the Keene Valley Library was a godsend. From the start I loved taking him in to visit Karen and to play in the children's area, and with an mini baby boom happening in the area there were often friends to play with as well. Soon we had formed an organized play group, meeting once a week to let the kids interact and, perhaps more importantly, allow for time to get to know other families and find support for all of those difficult times we faced as new parents.
For two years this play group was a huge part of our week. The library brought in a wonderful teacher, Emily from Lakeside School in Essex, to facilitate the group. The children's area has the perfect blend of toys (appropriate for many ages) and books. My son is a voracious reader and I credit the library in a large part for instilling this in him. He's now in preschool and can't make the play group, but we still stop in whenever we can to play and take home some new books. I can't imagine raising him without the Keene Valley Library, and I can't wait to introduce my new daughter to its brand new children's area!" Jan Wellford
